I like the Gundam design. It appears to have some Zaku influences in terms of the arms and lower torso. The Guncannon isn't so hot, but I've seen worse. Guntank is terrible though. Kinda reminds me of Warpath. Those cannons are so out of place on the torso, and the proportions are all off; the Guntank looks like a SD-ized Unit. If the cannons were not so long and ugly and put in a more appropriate position, and if the proportions were a little better, I would like its design, as it works quite well with the color scheme, which I find quite nice.

Original designs are never used, you should see what the original designs for the Valkrye fighters from Macross were going to look like. The Gundam there you can see the Super Robot influence in it as it kind of looks like one from Mazinger Z. I'd concider those more of the early designs, they're worked and reworked until they get what they're looking for.
