It is so interesting....Light is so psychotic and L always looks on crack when he is actually perfectly fine. I have read three volumes and Light's sense of thinking gets more and more away from his 'purpose'

Yeah I know Light says he plans to use that book for good reasons yet he seems to be wandering away from that ideal. I also agree he does seem to be not right in the head.

OMG, I'm getting crazily obsessed with Deathnote.
I now have volumes 1-6, and I love this anime. Light's ironic desires and so-called "judgement." In a strange twist of roles, Light acts as the story's antagonist and protagonist at the same time, and the reader has to wonder if Light's cause is truly correct.
L is also rather interesting. His creepy tranquility and decisive reasoning acts as a combatant to Light's cunning. When it gets right down to it, Deathnote becomes a battle of wits, not fists, between L and Light. A battle of composure, sanity, and cunning. What is right versus what is wrong is questioned in this amazing manga/anime.

It's excellent. It's one of the few manga released this year that deserves a place on your bookshelf.

Hmm, from what I remember, Light seems to be one of those people who will probably go downhill really fast while he's trying to "save" humanity.

Precisely. His tragic flaw as a character is his determination to accomplish what he believes to be divine judgement.

*shudders* People like that are kinda scary. Well, the first volume is available at the library, so I'm going to reserve it and see if it's good or not.
