Have you..? I wonder what real manga-kas have to go through to get their work published? How long it usually takes them to draw up a manga? How they edit them...and blah-de-blah...
Sometimes I wonder if I'd be able to do it...

Well I don't know if there are many non-japanese mangakas who could make it :/ And even in that case, is a non-japanese really able to consider himself a mangaka? Doesn't it make part of japanese culture?

To tell you the truth, I think I'd have a shot if I had better equipment. Not to brag, just saying.

Heres how it goes.
Most manga ka start out as assistants to other manga ka, if you have ever read any of Egawa Tatsuya's works (Golden Boy, Deadman, Tokyo University Story) you will notice that on the cover it clearly states "By Egawa Tatsuya and his assistants. The assistants normally do the ground work in a manga series - backgrounds, explosions, objects and the like - where the manga ka normally wites the story and draws in the characters.
Once a young manga kas stuff starts to get noticed, they are normally given a chance with a weekly manga publication/magazine. In most cases the new manga ka is given say 5~10 weeks or installments of their new series and if it goes well it stays, if it proves umpopular its goes. Thats the nature of the manga industry.
Its not too hard to become a manga ka, but it is quite difficult to become a successfull manga ka.
