Scary Translation Error - possible in Japnaese?

Recently there was a big hoo hah about a Chinese company translating a 'dark brown' sofa as 'nig###' sofa.
Can that happen in Japanese? They share the same written characters...
I'm just very curious. Apologies if I offend.

No, I highly doubt that would ever happen in a Japanese translation. The Japanese have a separate word for nig***, and it's not the same as and word for colour

Hey Geishaboy, do you ever hear anyone use "dachi" in Japan?
It's the title of a harmless anime song I have, and I learned it was just short for "tomodachi". But when I look it up on Space Alc, it's translated much like the slang word in question in this thread.
Just wondered...

The english language has two hundred wordsfor every simple thing so its bound to be mistranslated. (im sorry if I can't spell)
