My Moderator Application: bubbles*chan!!
Posted: Jul 25, 2007 2:28pm
by bubbles*chan!!
Okay, so I decided I want to try out for mod and make a couple of changes in the forum.

First of all, i'm bubbles*chan!! (Yes, not much to add to that) and I think i'd be a good mod for many reasons. These are the following:
- I'm always checking up on AA to make sure everything's okay. Even late at night, which is when i'm bored most of the time. I admit I haven't been very active lately, but I can surely fix that.
- I've never been suspended or been in trouble on AA, and i've been here for over a year. Nor have I ever been a bother to other moderators. If I become moderator, i'll be sure to deal with the troublesome users the best I can. Even in the chatroom, which includes banning, gagging, and warning other members if they are caught disobeying the rules. [-X
- I've learned from other moderators how to move topics, merge topics, split topics, and lock topics. I've never before modded a site, but I assure you, i'm able to learn VERY quickly. If I must, I will even join more forums and make more moderator applications to get moderator experience. I'm always willing to take criticism and advice from other moderators.
- I'm patient, but I don't take any trouble from anyone. I know to first warn them, and after that first warning, I can give punishment. Especially in the chatroom (where most of the trouble is these days). I know how the site runs, and I have read the guidelines, both moderator's and user's.
- Last but not least, I understand taking on a moderator's responsibility is difficult and I may not like it, but it's for the sake of AA. It has become monstrous lately, and i'd like to calm it down a little. Even though our other moderators do an OUTSTANDING job with the forum. If there is ever another moderator in need, I hope i'm one of the picks.
Thank you for taking the time to read this moderator application, and please feel free to lay down any type of criticism you want.

Bubblesss.

Nice app.
Man I didn't think you'd make such a long good app like this. I thought it was going to say something like
"hi im bubbles and i wanna be mod!"
But nope, looks like you it all down. D:
-Votes yes.-

Hmm....eh. I dunno. No. (I know, harsh of meh.)
Reason? Well, your post count. 123. and you've been here since 05? That's not that much. at all. I really don't know how often you're on AA chat, but from what I've seen, you're not on there very much either. Also, joining other forums and attempting to become a mod there just to get experience so you can come back here is pretty stupid, and isn't the most intelligent thing I've heard. What will you do afterwards? Ditch one site for the other? Spend too much time moderating one site you don't moderate the other one? No. That's pretty stupid.
As for other parts of you're application, nothing above average. This is your average, "I WANT TO HELP AA AND BE A MODERATOR!" application. No.

All i was stating was that i have no experience being a mod. I never said that i was just using this site for experience. I love AA and I want to help make it better, but thank you for your post and I will do my best to be more active on this site!!

Bubbles~ I've known you for forever it seems, from when I was new. I know you as a decent person, kind, helpful... There for those who may need you. I believe you would make an outstanding addition to the moderation team.

Good luck, and don't give up, for I know you will make it.

My vote is
Yes

As always, MC. You have nothing good to write about an app, when yours was almost the same. =|

Same here, bubbles. When you get on more and boost your count, I'll say yes. Except for the nazi part...
Oh well.

I don't quite think that you really get the concept of what a moderator is. They don't need to be dedicated solely to one website. I myself am a moderator of several forums. I find time to not only do my duties there, but also participate actively like a normal member. As long as there are several other parts of the AA staff, it's not critical that she be on 24/7, dear.
As for the application. You're the first "yes" I've given out. I'm somewhat of a harsh critic. =P However, you seem like a very nice, likable girl, as well as having a working brain unlike many of the members here who don't have to courtesy to type correctly. Though you don't capitalize some of your words, it's really not that big of deal. It's still good enough to pass in my opinion. My only concern would be your activity. Such a low number of posts in a rather long period of time doesn't necessarily bode well for the "highly active" portion of the application. However, I still believe you'd be a good addition to the AA staff. Good luck. =)

NO need for such a debate here, what Roberto said was his opinion, and seeing it wasn't inflammatory, there was no need to start a fight with him even if it may be untrue. If what he said is really a fallacy then the way to prove it is not through words but through actions for they speak louder than words. And Roberto buddy, do yourself a favor, this is a moderator application, express yourself a bit less crudely and try to express yourself with a bit more class, words like "stupid" and "isn't the most intelligent thing I heard" is not constructive criticism, maybe your words will be better received if you could word yourself a bit better.
That being said, I sorta agree with Roberto, you seem like a great person, and you will most likely make a great mod in a few months, but I do not think that you are ready yet because you're really not around on the forums, and the fact that you do not really associate with too many people outside of your little group. So it is a no for now.

Maybe you should explain yourself better in the future to avoid misunderstandings, sweetheart. Seeing as you would rather point out that I'm ignorant to the subject whereas you're an expert, I take it you really aren't interested in being helpful; only negative. I was merely trying to opine what I thought would help to clarify what a moderator does seeing as how I have some experience in the field. Sorry for the confusion, but as Jesse pointed out, it could prove helpful to be less crude in the future.
