After-dream Numbing

After-dream Numbing

It is lost on me,
The one I used to be,
Dreams I once held high,
Have evaporated and turned a rye.

The wind caresses my face,
And though the beauty still remains,
It holds an emptiness in gentle pace,
Disheartening the message it proclaims,
Meaninglessly tugging at my shirt and ruffling the lace.

There is in my soul,
The hollow echo of hope,
A shadow of the hope which fate stole,
Despair entwined dreams leaving me to mope.
