Absolute Anime

~I have an elder brother who is in prison for reasons I'd rather not disclose. He does not send me things very often, but for my birthday, he sent me a card with a poem he'd written. He writes poetry often, and I am especially touched by this one. I have not seen him since I was 8, I'm 16 now, and I won't be able to see him again until I'm well into my 20's. Please enjoy his poem as much as I have.~

Your Life is Before You

On this day,
Try to remember that life is a celebration.
You are who you should be in every way,
And I know that you are the center of everyone's attention.

Today is yours and yours alone,
So take pride in feeling good and being you.
You are growing each moment on your own,
And this world can be anything you want it to.

Take every chance and use every oppurtunity,
Letting each day be filled to the wholest with contentment.
Be proud of who you can and should be,
Giving all things their due concentration and contemplation.

All that can be said about today is you should enjoy it to the fullest,
Taking time to look to the future for all you can do.
Know that I will always be here for you whenever facing life's tests,
And always remember- Your life is before you.

He sounds like an excellent brother and is an amazing poet.
How old is he?

He's to be 29 this year, there's about 12 years or so between us. I believe, had he not made such ill choices, he would have been an excellent brother. I love him dearly.
