I typically prefer the unique series that nobody's heard of.
Some of my favorite manga series include:
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Berserk
Battle Angel Alita: Last Order/GUNMM
Fist of the North Star
Bastard!!
Monster
Yeah.

Now that's a great list!!
But Bastard and Berserk aren't really that unknown. Both are actually extremely popular in Japan

Bastard!! isn't very popular anywhere. It's average popularity over there
And off my list, JJBA is the most popular in Japan BY FAR (in Japan it's arguably more well known than DBZ and One Piece, and is definitely more well known than Bleach and Naruto)

Have you ever actually been here before because (i doubt you have) Bastard is very well known here and JJBA isnt anywhere near the fan base of Bastard.....sure as hell isn't more than DBZ (possibly bigger than Naruto and Bleach)

I have been there when I was younger to visit some relatives there
Bastard is very well known here and JJBA isnt anywhere near the fan base of Bastard
My cousin (technically my second cousin) who lives in Japan is a DIE HARD Bastard fanboy, and even he knows that Bastard hasn't been more popular than JJBA in years
First off, Steel Ball Run is consistently higher rated in Ultra Jump than Bastard!! is
Secondly, JJBA has been constantly running on regular basis, and for most of its life has been in a far more popular magazine with weekly releases.
Bastard has alienated much of it's fanbase with hiatuses that put Togashi to shame
If Bastard was truly as popular in Japan as you say, then scans would have been picked up by someone, even if they can't speak a lick of English (JJBA Part 4)
The Japanese part of the internets became so clogged with JJBA memes to the point where it overflowed into the English parts of the internet ("ZA WARUDO" "WRYYYYYYYYYY") and has been referenced in American television (Hiro Nakamura from Heroes makes a few references to Jotaro and Dio)
There are clubs all throughout Japan dedicated to teaching the strange cover art poses in JJBA
And I'll try to find the videos, but there are at least to instances of random mass gatherings of people just to do the signature "ORAORAORAORAORA" and "WRYYYYYYYYYYY" en masse
There was a poll in Japan about 2 years ago for the top 100 series of all-time. JJBA scored 2nd after Slam Dunk (Dragon Ball was 3rd). Bastard was nowhere on the list
sure as hell isn't more than DBZ
Maybe sheer numbers-wise, but JJBA has a steady fanbase that is hardcore
(possibly bigger than Naruto and Bleach)
Overall, it's definitely a bit larger

I love Hollow Fields and no one seems to know about it. Hmm, maybe I'm just a recluse too.
