Chrono Chusade -
Why: Well, they died at the end, they died as the sun passed beyond the horizon, and Rosette was so upset, saying she was scared and wanted to live. Made me cry

Tsukihime (Game version, not Anime) - Hisui's ""Midday Moon" ending.
Why:All the sacrifices Hisui & Kohaku had to make. Saying more would spoil it.

Chrno Crusade had the most upsetting ending, no question.
The Azumanga Daioh ending was quite sad too. I thought that it would be a fine, happy ending like the anime, but it was sad because Chiyo started crying and stuff.

Saiyuki had a sad ending that caused a tear to form. At first it seemed like one big fight scene but then the bad guys (who weren't really bad at all) just showed how truly in pain they were, and when Goku got that last strike in...i almost looked away. Truly sad. T_T

I agree with Chrono Crusade's ending.
Tegen Toppa Gurren Lagann was kind of sad in away.

I've never cried to the end of a series, but I was really sad that Azumanga Daioh had finished. T^T

dudes! the saddest ending i've ever saw has to be chrno crusade
!
i cried like a baby and was so sad. but i liked how it ended in the manga better
. but chrno crusade must've been the saddest.

Saikano, hands down, has to be one of the saddest anime/mangas ever, even though I've only seen one episode and read the first book.
Parasyte was sad too. Specially around book three or so.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni made me sad because it was over. At least they won in the end.
-if you want a shock horror anime ending, watch School Days. Though it might make you laugh like I did.

Sonic X (the Japanese version, of course).
You may laugh, but I cried and my heart ached. Poor Tails...I never imagined when the series started that he'd one day have to endure what he did. He became my favorite character of the entire Sonic saga after Episodes 77-78.
