Just something I recently wrote. Had some god awful writer's block until recently so not sure how well this one turned out.

Sanity's Evanesence

I drift along this path of mine
Flowing willingly with the wind
Not giving a second thought to where I've been
Or wherever I may end up next

The summer breeze, like your warm embrace
Calms the bitter unrest that is my soul
I hear your voice gently kissing the air
As you slowly fade into the moonlit night

Slowly I open my teeming eyes
My hearts words streaming down my face
Falling to my knees before your name
My breath becoming ragged and strained

Beyond the aging churchyard gates
I lay within the grass overgrown
Bathed in the moons somber glow
No light reaching my prosaic gaze

Sleep is my last selfish flight
On the wings of swelling pain
Attempting to escape the emptiness
The hole I cut in my own heart
