Living Memory

Poem I wrote about Sharni.
Living Memory
You may not be here, but I'll never forget,
That very special day, the day we met,
So small and fluffy and an amazing white,
Captured our hearts, the choice we made was right,
On the way home you showed your joy,
On mum's favourite jacket, a secret you did deploy.
A year later an obedience trophy you won,
Yet your life of memories had still only just begun,
For your birthday you got your own chocolate cake,
Though I think you'd rather a nice big steak,
Maltesers seemed to be your favourite treat,
Of course they would be a once in a while sweet.
In the car, up the back you'd always sit,
Howling with songs, you seemed to have natural musical wit,
As you got older some more family did you get,
Molly, Sharla and Sylvester, as are you they're more than a pet,
You were a dog with unlimited energy,
And to me you are still living in my memory.
