If you were to make MtG cards based on anime...

The thought had occurred to me after a profile was submitted for Excel Saga. The picture for Gojo Shouji happens to be a Magic: the Gathering-type card made by a series fan based on characteristics from the character, and it set my mind to thinking.

If you have a decent enough knowledge of anime and MtG, do you think you could think of cards that could be made? If you think of an idea and reply to this, post all the details you would expect to see on the card (costs, rules, flavor if you can, picture, etc.). I have the tool that can make the cards, and it might be fun to make some for grins. To help spur things along, here's a card I made myself: a land based on the amusing situation the ACROSS base had in episode 2 of Excel Saga:
Flooded ACROSS Base
Land
Flooded ACROSS Base comes into play tapped and doesn't untap during its controller's next two untap steps.
TAP: Add WWW to your mana pool. Flooded ACROSS Base doesn't untap during its controller's next two untap steps.
"Well, who knew an underground base would have such a problem? What an oversight." - Il Palazzo
I'll be the first to admit that I'm not an MtG expert, so any cards I would make may not be exactly fair, but it sounds like doing something like this would be a lot of fun. If there are enough worthy cards, I'll see about putting together a card set for all of us to look at an enjoy.

I was thinking about Vash the Stampede, but because of his vow now to kill, I was thinking about raising his power but adding the condition somewhere along these lines:

"If Vash the Stampede would attack and destroy a creature, this creature returns to its owner's hand instead."

So it's easier to beat a creature with the card but they don't get killed.

Still, along the line of Trigun, I came up with a relatively simple one for Meryl Stryfe
Meryl Stryfe
2W
Creature - Hero
2/2
Attacking does not cause Meryl Stryfe to tap.
"However, in some places I happen to be better known as Derringer Meryl."

Name: Legato Bluesummers
Cost: 2Black 4Colorless
Type: Legendary Villain
Power/Toughness: 4/2
Effect: Pay XX to take control of target creature for the rest of the game, where X is = to the creature's toughness.
If Legato leaves play, return controlled creatures to owner's control.
If Legato is killed by a creature, the creature that killed Legato is tapped, and can't untap unless the owner pays 10colorless.
"Kill me, or your friends die."

How about double X, and when returned, they return to owner's control? He isn't that powerful, 2 damage will destroy him.

Name: Saillune City
Type: Legendary Land
Effect: Comes into play tapped. Tap, gain 2 white mana, and doesn't untap during next turn. While Saillune City is untapped, all white creatures gain +2/+2, and all nonwhite creatures receive -2/-2. Saillune City can't be targeted by spells or abilities that come from a nonwhite source.
"The white magic capital of the world."

Hmm...those could work. Nice touch with Sailune Capital (or however it'll be spelled), but to be fair, I would think it shouldn't untap at the next untap phase (IOW, it should take two turns to untap).

Name: Dragon Slave
Cost: 5red Xcolorless or YYcolorless
Type: Sorcery
Effect: Destroy X, nonlegendary nonland permenates, or destroy Y nonlegendary lands, and no permenate can regenerate. Dragon Slave ignores Flagbearers, and Protection from Red.
"Darkness beyond twilight, crimson beyond blood that flows..."

That looks great.

Hmm...much more worthy if it can override Flagbearer and Protection from Red. Also, it can't be countered, and what's destroyed can't regenerate.

Still, Lands should be tougher to destroy. How about this?

BTW, know where I can get a good picture of Saillune City (One last thing. It should probably come into play tapped)?

ok dude that is way to powerfull, make it so he has to stay tapped or the creature goes back to his owner

I will edit the post the card idea is in. So look back and see if that is better.

Sorry. I don't know where to look for a picture of Sailune. I couldn't find a picture either.

If you know of a program I could download and use to take a screencapture, I could send you a picture. I use real player to watch DVDs on my computer, if that has any importance on the program that I could use.

Hmm...I'd say Media Player Classic (compact and free to download), but it only works if the DVD is regionless (most only work if the DVD is regionless). If it's regioned, you may need to work around that first.

Ura sounds like it has potential. Let me check it for fairness...

(Gatherer running a little slow right now.)

Hmm...perhaps if Ura wasn't as tough. Maybe 1/5, but with the tap ability as is. Take a look.

That sounds good. You seem to know what you are doing, with creation and balancing.

What about creating your Flooded ACROSS Base?
