why would Inuyasha want to be a Full demon OR a Full human? hes got the best of both worlds,
hes a human on the night of the new moon
and he
changes into a demon in fights he can't normally win without more power then he already has
...

His whole life up till Kagome he had nothing but prejudism over it; so, no he isn't lucky, and that's why he wishes to be a full demon, it has nothing to do with the strength...
Being between worlds may actually be better, but that isn't how the people of either of the two worlds see it, and most are of the two, so that's a lot to put up with...
