Absolute Anime

Has anyone read The Watchmen graphic novel? It's a mature, superhero themed story that completely blew me away. I hear they're making a film version right now, and I can't wait.

I've heard about that movie project. It's been around since the series forst came out. ...then again, the Spider-Man and X-Men movies have been around since the 80's; look how long it took for those movies to finally be made.
As you can guess, I read the series. I have all 12 issues. And I figured out why Dr. Manhattan killed Rorschach.

Dr. Manhattan killed Rorschach because only Rorschach and he knew that Ozymandius's plan would fail, resulting only in the end of America. Both also knew that Dr. Manhattan had been betrayed by everyone else, and that he was willing to do whatever it took to make everyone he ever trusted pay for betraying him.
Rorschach made Dr. Manhattan choose between their friendship (as Rorschach was the only person to never betray him) and his revenge...and Dr. Manhattan chose revenge.
That's why Rorschach removed his mask during their final confrontation; to force Dr. Manhattan to look him in the eyes and choose. And that's why Rorschach cried at the end; in the end Rorschach lost everyone and everything that mattered to him.
That's also the meaning behind Dr. Manhattan's cryptic statement to Ozymandius at the end: Ozymandius thought his plan would remove conflict from the world and preserve America while doing so...but it could never do that. The evil confronting America would never end...only America would end.

eee. Umm, i'm really sorry to everyone...now you've been given a giant spoiler...you should still read the Watchmen, this shouldn't ruin everything.

Hey, they don't need to click it if they don't want to. Besides...that one's irrelevant to the main plot. And most people would overlook the little clues that give it away anyway.

I've seen a number of writings on Watchmen in magazines, comics, and such, and none of them understand the motivations behind the action I talk about in my spoiler.

It's not like I talk about the murders, after all. I just have a knack for pointing out the little details about a series, such as the origins of Serial Experiments: Lain...or that the Rom series is actually political satire when Bill Mantlo was writing it...little tidbits like that. I deliberately stayed away from the main plot on purpose--and I properly marked my spoiler.

...hold on...maybe I'm a little slow at this...

are you mad at me for telling you something about the series you didn't 'get' before I told you?
If that's the case, KG, sorry if I spoiled your enjoyment.
Sometimes I can be too informative, I guess...

No, I understood quite well why Dr.Manhattan did what he did, so no that didn't bother me at all. I'm not mad at you either, I just wish you hadn't said "Oh this is why dr.manhattan kills rorschach" before you posted the spoiler part, because, big spoiler or not, it's something that most people would rather not have known before reading Watchmen, and I don't like ruining the experience for people who haven't read it yet.
