Anime Blood types

I always wondered why blood types were listed in character profiles. Now I know. Just found this on anime visions.net ...... or was it com. Anyway, it's a neat site with a great gallery.

Incidentally, I'm type O.

Japanese Culture Facts: Blood types

Within anime and manga you probably have noticed characters giving their blood types. The reason for this is that it is widely believed (especially with teenage girls) that a person's blood type will indicate their personality, much like the Zodiac. Businesses used to even place workers within groups with related blood types. You can also find products such as sodas, keychains, and condoms based on the blood type. The breakdown of the bloodtypes are as follows:

Type A : People with blood type A have a deep-rooted strength that helps them stay calm in a crisis when everyone else is panicking. However, they tend to avoid confrontation, and feel very uncomfortable around people. A types are shy and sometimes withdrawn.

Type B : People with blood type B are the most practical of the blood groups. They are specialists in what they do. When they start a project, they spend extra time understanding and trying to follow directions than others might. When they are doing something, all of their attention is focused on it. B type people pay attention to their thoughts a little more than their feelings, and therefore can sometimes seem cold and serious.

Type O : People with blood type O people are outgoing, energetic and social. They are the most flexible of the blood types. They easily start up projects but often have trouble following through because they give up easily. They are flighty and not too dependable. (considered best type in Japan)

Type AB : People with blood type AB are hard to categorize. They can have characteristics on both ends of the spectrum at the same time. For instance, they are both shy and outgoing. They easily switch from one opposite to another. (Considered worse since they are unpredictable, this is my bloodtype ^^;)

To read more about blood types and where I got the breakdowns can be found at the following site: Issendai's Lair

Hmm...a very fascinating discussion, and now that you mention it, I can see the correlations based on my own experience researching characters, particularly (like you said) young girls. You tend to see more stats on them than others, probably because they're trying to emphasize it. Sailor Moon and Magic Knight Rayearth immediately leap to mind because you can see the attention given to both blood type and dates so as to fit within the Japanese ideas about them.

Incidentally, I'm Type A. Might explain why I'm not exactly a people person.

PS. Let's try a little experiment. Not basing this on any character preconceptions you might have, how would you describe a Leo with Type O?
(If you already know who I'm trying to match up against, I ask that you don't participate, which is why I'm not doing this myself.) :|

I have a life already, thank you. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to discuss matters here...or breathe, for that matter.

++Dear Guest,

Frankly, I question the narrow parameters of your so-called existence. Otherwise, why would you be visiting an anime site only to be dismayed at the discussion of anime characters and Japanese culture?

Since becoming part of the anime community I have found that a majority of anime fans are of above average intelligence, and remarkably aware of world events. Their favorite anime tend to reflect some of their life interests, cars, history, contemporary and classic music, science, sports, martial arts, philosophy and theology, the list goes.

You, on the other hand, seem to have nothing better to do than visit sites and discussions for the sole purpose of insulting someone. You are the pathetic one and, although I feel sorry for you, you will be barred from logging on to this site if you persist in being a nuisance.

Leo/Tye O

Starpower. Chrisma. Centerstage. Childlike but not childish. A big ego balanced with a big heart. Generous. Extravigant.

How's that?

Not thinking of any partiuclar character. Just Leo traits off the top of my head.

Well, DL, it helps bolster the theory about some of these characters being fitted into the stereotypes set up by zodiac/blood type combinations.

The girl I was thinking about was Rayearth's Hikaru Shidou. She does indeed take a central role in matters. A very kind and generous soul, but she's also prone to emotional extremes (she's either very assertive or very depressed). And she looks younger than she actually is.

Seeing it in action will make finding those other correspondences all the more interesting.

blood type A fit me pretty good. it's kinda scary really. I wonder, and it is just a thought, that maybe people thought up these types of things no matter how right they are so that maybe people can feel a little more comfortable in knowing that not everything is as unpredictable as it seems. just a thought.

I remember reading about blood types somewhere else. It is mostly used to help a creator flesh out a character, or to help develop a personality for a character.

As for my blood type, AB, but the descriptions of A, and B fit me more than the description of AB.

Im not sure what blood type I am, but none of those described me well. I am outgoing and energetic (not online tho), but I also take care to do things precisely and well, and I havent quit something I started since I was 9 or so. I guess things like this are never perfect...
