Is he just some whacked out boy with a crooked baseball bat? Or is he some urban legend spawned from the desparation brewing in the depths of your soul?

That is indeed one of the big mysteries of the series. I guess we can only watch and learn. 8-[

Something I'm sure not many people caught because of the fact that none of the writing has been translated is that the paper said something about the annoying, phugly, fat dude, Kawazu, being attacked and "Proved" the exsistance of the "Little Slugger." They point it out in an annoyingly subtle way. As the cops leave Sagi at the hospitol they bet eachother about if she is telling the truth. Whoever is right has to buy dinner. At the end, the police officer who bet Sagi was telling the truth said, "Chief. I feel like.... Korean BBQ tonight." And the other guy gives him this look like ****off and goes back to reading the papper.

Yes, but also consider this. Think about the mental state of each of the people that are being attacked? Would you or would you not say that each person attacked is kinda approaching the end of his or her mental rope?

Did anyone notice that weird old man in the first episode? when he looked at that girl, he looked like he knew her. I think he has some connection to "Lil Slugger"

Are you talking about the weird old guy who was chalking on the parking lot?

Think about this. When he did his "equation" the first time, he ended up with 510...the number connected with Tsukiko Sagi.

Then, in episode 2, we see a new one...this time ending in 1..."Ichi", as in Yuiichi.
