Absolute Anime

Out of all the animes I've seen, these three are the coolest non-human male characters:

Duuz Delax Rex (Angel Links)

Let (Rave Master)

Carmine (Dragon Century)

[Although Duuz is technically a reptilian, he's still cool nonetheless.

I liked Duuz's comment about the others eating lobster. "I don't eat bottom feeders." Good words to live by.

While not main characters have you seen the dragons from Record of Lodoss War? The red dragon Shooting Star is the best example of dragons since that of Smaug from the Hobbit.

Oh, if you're Duuz, what's with your anime portrait? Last time I checked Duuz was organic, not mechanical.

I definitely am a Duuz fanboy, but ever since I saw both Rave Master and Dragon Century, three dragons (well two dragons and a reptile technically) are vying for the title of coolest dragon character in an anime.

For as popular as you think they would be, dragons are not that common of a characters in anime. There is the series Dragon Century, I have heard of it, it's been a while since I've read it's summary. The Pokemon like Dragon Drive series.

How about Worsel from Lensman? I'm not sure if he can be classified as a dragon or not. Though there are some references in the original E.E. Doc Smith that he is some kind of dragon like creature. Even some of the Boskone looked a little draconian.

Oh what am I saying, how many of you have even seen Lensman?

I know. Dragons are cool and they definitely need more dragon animes, but humans with good-looking faces and explosive hairstyles are the ones that get the most popularity.

All I can say is Dragon Century needed to be a LOT longer. It's great and I loved both episodes, but come on: there needs to be more!

Well Duuz, I checked the info for Lensman. Looks like a pretty good anime with a Robotech-ish look to it. Think I can obtain it anywhere?

As for Worsel, he DOES look like a dragon. And judging from the description, he sounds like the typical character who is warrior-like, skilled, probably has never been defeated and helps the main character. Dragons are like that.

Yes, as you have checked Lensman is an old anime. Made some time around the mid 80's. It's often forgoten as well for many reasons. One being the family of the late SF writer E.E. Doc Smith has critisized the anime as not being the vision that their father had in mind. The original series of books of Lensman were written back around 1948.

But yes, Worsel helps the main character Kimball Kinisson. Lensman was released on VHS under Streamline's licences and is out of print. And although Carl "the Razor" Macek now works for ADV I seriously doubt they'll make plans for a DVD release. I'm looking to burn my copy on VHS to DVD myself, I don't think there is any protective codeing on a VHS tape that old.

Darn, makes me wish I had the appreciation I have for anime now as a kid. I really want to see it now.

Actually Duuz, there are two Dragon Centuries out there. I'm talking about the stand alone anime, not the series. They're two completely different animes.
