Absolute Anime

I'm sure most of you are aware of Jeff Foxworthy and his famous "You might be a Redneck if..." lines. Well, the thought has occurred to me that perhaps we can do the same thing...only with an anime flavor.

So now I introduce the thread "You might be an Otaku if..." (For the uninitiated, an Otaku is an anime fanatic.)

I invite people to plumb the depths of their humor with their ideas of just how far an Otaku will go. I must ask, however, that the jokes be kept clean (in accordance with the rules of the board).

Here's a simple one to get things started:

You keep advance flight tickets for the next five anime conventions.

You met your current and last boy/girlfriend while they were performing cosplay.
You dedicate more of your monthly income to the local comic store than to the rent.
Your idea of nightly reading is an imported Japanese manga.

You might be an Otaku if...

You're willing to drive to the next state just to get that missing volume in your collection.

You have more anime posters than wall space on which to put them up.

You're a guy with an alarm clock that looks like a character from the "Magical Girl" genre.

The clerks at the nearest Suncoast recognize you and your interests as soon as you walk in.

You went through the anime selection at every Blockbuster in a 20-mile radius within a week.

You use an anime theme song for your cell phone ringtone.

when you go to the local library the librarian tells you about the lastest manga they got as soon as you walk in.

you come home every saturday night at 8:30 to watch toonami and adult swim

you look at your life as an anime and you are the hero/heroine of it

you spend your weekly 5 dollar allowance on shonen jump and shojo beat which is monthly and save the last 10 bucks for next month.

on homecoming night you asked your boyfriend to tape anime for you while you were out that night at the dance

you say kamehameha when you're "sparring" with your friends

you tell your dad Goku could kick Batman's a$$

you keep a list of all the hot anime characters you like and fight over them with your friends

you try to relate everyones personality to an anime character

you have several character nicknames among your own anime friends

If you listen to the anime themes and nothing else for two months straight (I'm attempting to do so for Angelic Layer)
You think you're a whole bunch of anime characters in one package (Personally, I've the looks of Keitaro Urashima, the temper of Vegeta, the self-doubt of Souchirou Arima, behaviour of Hideki Motosuwa...)
You pine for hours after finding only one DVD volume of an anime you're looking for...
You watch anime for the specific voice actors (eh, it's true. Gary Ayres, Hilary Haag, Andy McGavin and Eric Stuart rule)
You record the (shortened) opening and closing music for an anime onto your phone (proudly guilty)
Oh, and write fanfiction for anime too. (Except that I have writer's block... ahhhhhh!!!)

Oh, and I envy anyone who actually has anime music for a ringtone. Darn!
