Absolute Anime

what does it take for an anime series to become great or one of your favorites

Smooth animations! I would really like that! Oh yeah, great characters with great personalities that you can relate to! Good storylines and great twists! ^_^

It has to have hot guys! great actions! blood blood! Very good story! drama, can be good. Has to have good music!, of course. Good animation! And something I can connect to.

Its gotta look interesting o.o.. basically good animation, most likely action/horror, and a few bishis probably o.o;

Anything that makes you want more when it is done.

something that can tug at peoples emotions, make them feel sorry, happy or pity a character

It's gotta have an original story, excellent animation, original characters, some action, some comedy, maybe even some drama and other stuff

Exactly! But don't forget some random episodes to pass the time but, turning out to help out solve mysteries that are appeared in 20 to 30 episodes later lol.

Well-written dialog/repartee and character development
Good voice acting, English or Japanese
Depth of Plotline
Attractive character design
Good looking backgrounds
Good animation
Thoughtful soundtrack


You think about the characters between viewings and are sad to see it end.

Drama that isn't forced...
Some humorous situations to take a little of the edge off the drama...
Character consistency and continuity...
and if the series is a 'satire' or 'parody' series...
Humorous 'attacks' on a genre without too many in-jokes--unless notes are included with the disc or on the disc.

Endless in-'action' is a no-no, as is endless slapstick (even the 3 Stooges supplemented their slapstick with satirical social commentary and groan-causing jokes) and inappropriate situations for the series (like a big dramatic ending for a comedy series).

drama, sword fight, action, romance

good animations, some comedy but not too much stupidity, serious moments, growth in the characters, action, bit o romance, some blood...

anything else.

oh the random episodes are awesome.

oh and you have to have cute characters and shadowy characters and a nice variety to keep ppl entertained.

I think it's the action and whether the character is funny. That's my opinion.

Angzt Characters + Good Characterization + Superb Story Plot = Extraordinarily Superb ANIME SERIES.
