Music and sound in games.....

I sometimes feel music and sound in games is under rated.....many gamers fail to notice the impact music and sound can have on a games quality......for example the theme song for Silent Hill 3 "You're not here", is an amazing song, which i am playing while I write this

. Sound and music add to the emotion of a game, like Silent Hill and resident evil has tense often disturbing music....while FPS's tend to have rock or metal music to run your adrealine.....many games also have great theme songs which can stand completely on there own. But am I wrong? Do more people notice and apreshate it?.....

Of course it does, its as well thought out as the rest of a game is, if they take the time to make a good game. Metal Gear Soild 2 had a bloody arocastra....and I can name other games were it is just as planned out.....and i really think MGS2 theme song went very well with the game.....which required PLANNING.

The MGS2 theme was great. However I find myself addicted to the musical score of Sonic 3. I don't know what is with my appeal to 16bit music but there you go.

It was by Harry Gregson Williams, brillent song, i also like the sonic music, the older stuff sounds odd but i cnt help but find it catchy. FF7 had gr8 music which has all been re-mixed by a group called "The Black Mages".
O yes of course the opeining theme to Final Fantasy X, Otherworld by Nobuo Uematsu....that song rocks.

The FF series, I feel has always had gr8 music, even from its humble begining.......Icewind dale and the Baldurs Gate series's also impressed me....
Am starting to see concerts of just game music, which shows how far its come from just "beeps" and "bobs" in the 80s....

I think music in games is underrated and I agree that the music in the games are very important. If the music in the game does not go with the situation, you can't really get into the game. I especially liked the music in Grandia 2 and FF7, some really great music in those 2.

Am begining to see a paterrn here. RPG's tend to have music and a massive scale, but so do some FPS's like halo....then there r some games that dnt bother and make a sound track like Grand theft auto. But I feel GTA works that way......

Nah GTA never uses orignal music or scores..they just pack a buncha hits on to the disc. I used to like GTA...but now its just whatever.
But i must say that I loved the Vice City soundtrack for its addition of the Flock of seagulls of "I ran".
