Description: King of Braves: GaoGaiGar
GaoGaiGar is the popular chapter of the long-running "King of Braves" Japanese Super Robot series.
GaoGaiGar begins on a snowy night where a couple is driving out in a storm. The wife wishes for a child, when a mysterious mechanized lion lands right in front of them and hands them a strange child. Years later, the story really begins in the year 2003, when humanity first comes under attack from the mysterious Zonderians. Led by the Machine Kings and made of mysterious alien metal, their Zonderians wish to take the world by assimilating everything in their path.
The Zonderians feed off the despair and negativity of humanity, and use individuals as pawns for their attacks. The only hope against this alien threat comes from the GGG ("Gutsy Geoid Guard"), an organization consisting of many courageous and hopeful individuals devoted to the protection of Earth and the universe. Their ace comes in the form of Gai Shishio (a former astronaut turned into a powerful cyborg by his father) and his incredibly powerful robot known as GaoGaiGar.
In their first fight, the GGG is joined by Galeon (the mechanized Lion) and Mamoru (the boy who was brought to Earth). With their help, they uncover the truth about the Zonder attackers and gather their forces to help save the Earth and rescue the human victims of the Zonderians. As the fight rages on, new allies are made and new enemies create more adversity for Earth, GaoGaiGar, and the GGG. Will they have the courage and might to face the challenges that lie ahead?
Side Note: The Brave King GaoGaiGar Final OVA was reedited into a new 12 episode TV addition called "Grand Glorious Gathering." Among new footage and episodes, it even incorporates references to the anime series "Betterman." (Betterman and GaoGaiGar apparently take place in the same universe.)
