Character Profile: Jan Valentine

Jan Valentine is one half of the group of freaks - artificial vampires - known as the Valentine Brothers. Both of them were servants of the true vampire Incognito, aiding in his quest to unleash the demon Set on England.

Unlike his brother Luke, who had concentrated on the brothers' business, Jan was the typical representation of the freaks - an amoral, gun-happy punk who is not truly pleased unless he is causing chaos and destruction. Like his brother, he surrounds himself with beautiful women - all freaks themselves - and Jan in particular indulges in vulgar, morally questionable behavior.

Along with his brother, Jan led an army of ghouls - created from a group of religious extremists - against the Hellsing Organization when the Knights of the Round Table held a meeting at the compound concerning the freak problem. During this battle, over three-quarters of the organization's army was killed or turned into ghouls themselves.

Jan was the only member of the attacking army to ever reach the meeting, the rest were destroyed by Walter and Seras. There, Sir Integra Wingates Hellsing had shot Jan in the face six times with mercury-ignition bullets. But before she could get any information from him, Jan had ignited the bullets himself, laughing as he burned to ashes.
