Anime Profile: Mars Daybreak

In the far future, the Red Planet of Mars has undergone dramatic changes. The entire planet has become a giant ocean. However, life is far from easy for those on Mars. Work is very scarce and necessities such as food comes at a very high price. Separation between the rich and the poor has become very apparent. (Only the rich live on land and giant floating structures.)

However, the Blue planet is also home to various pirates trying to make a living. Mars Daybreak focuses on Gram River, a young man struggling to make a decent living on Mars. Gram's life takes a huge turn when he gets caught up in a pirate smuggling scheme.

Knocked out during the attack, he wakes up in a giant mech called a Round Buckler. Gram mysteriously becomes skillful at the machine and manages to fend off the attacking military. Impressed by Gram's skills, the pirates of the Ship of Aurora invite him to join the crew. Each of the Aurora's crew are outcasts in one way or another on Mars and seek to help the poverty stricken masses of Mars and battle the corrupt government pulling the strings.
