Character Description: Ryoko Asakura
Ryōko Asakura is one of the most popular students and the homeroom representative of the room Kyon and Haruhi Suzumiya share. She has a good attitude, is very athletic, and very pretty. She is also one of the few people who look favorable to the quirky Haruhi. But Ryōko also has a big secret – she is a humanoid interface entity, the same as Yuki Nagato, and serves as Yuki's back-up in observing Haruhi. However, observing that nothing was happening with Haruhi, Ryōko thought she might try something different.
After classes were over, Ryōko asked Kyon to meet with her at their homeroom. After expressing her concerns about Haruhi, she calmly told Kyon that, in order to see what Haruhi would do when faced with an unusual situation, she was going to kill him – and produced a huge combat knife to do it! She nearly succeeded – if Yuki hadn't interceded and blocked the attack. In the battle that happened later, Ryōko managed to injure Yuki considerably, but was in the end deleted because of her defective programming. After the battle, Yuki was able to correct the classroom and heal herself. She then produced a story to cover Ryōko's disappearance – she had accompanied her father to Canada when his job transferred him.
