Character Description: Rin Asōgi
Rin Asōgi is a private investigator who, at the beginning of the series, operates out of an office located in a run-down building in Tokyo's Shinjuku district with her partner Mimi. Although she appears to be in her late twenties, her true age is unknown. It is believed she is more than one thousand years old, the result of what has been called 'a Fruit of Time' that entered into Rin's body. This resulted in her being unusually preserved in age, as well as surviving almost every known way of dying (over the course of the series, Rin has been tortured, shot, stabbed, blown-up and sucked into a jet engine in mid-air)... with Rin surviving apparently unharmed!
Despite all this, Rin retains an almost whimsical sense of humor. But she also has a brilliant mind, no doubt due to her long existence. She is an excellent martial artist, and has a number of knives concealed on her body, as well as a garrote she often uses. Although there is a rumored romantic relationship with Mimi, her true love is Tajimamori, the former guardian of the world-tree Yggdrasil and the subject of a thousand year quest – as well as being the father of Rin's greatest enemy, Apos.
