Character Description: Renge Hoshakuji
Renge Hoshakuji is one of the supporting characters that seems to pop in and out of the series. She is a freshman at Ouran who enters a little after the beginning of the school year because of her obsession with Kyoya. Back at her home in France, after Renge's father shows her the picture of his business dinner with Kyoya and his family, she flies to Japan to search for him, as he looks exactly like Ichijo Miyabi from "Uki Doki Memorial", her favorite videogame character. She is so infatuated with him that she even goes so far as to say that he is her "fiance".
Unfortunately for Renge, the Kyoya of real life is completely converse to the Kyoya from the videogame. While the Kyoya from the videogame is sweet generous and understanding, the real Kyoya does nothing if there is no benefit. But despite this minor set back, Renge is determined to shower Kyoya with her love and make him feel the same, all the time stepping on the toes of the other club members. Kyoya politely asks the Host Club (mainly Kaoru and Hikaru) to put up with her because her father is an important business partner to his family.
Renge is also an otaku or an anime junkie/geek and tries to reclassify the members of the Host Club and then make a movie out of it (she even tries to cast Hunny as a bully). But in the end Haruhi stops her and explains to her that she can't just classify people like the characters in her videogames and anime. She is slightly mortified but soon gets over it and moves on to fawning over Haruhi (she doesn't know she's a girl).
In episodes after her own, Renge only appears every now and then, rising out of the floor on a platform pushed up by a high power motor. She also self-appoints herself to be the Host Club's manager and handles their publicity, movie, and doujinshi sales. In the big over view of things, Renge isn't a bad person, just a bit annoying and over eager.
