Character Description: Lina Inverse
Lina Inverse is the hero of the story, Slayers. She isn't one of those corny "do it for justice" heros (like Amelia), though. She fights for MONEY! She is kinda like Robin Hood, except she steals from the rich (the Bandits and robbers) and gives to herself!
In the first episode, she introduces herself by destroying a gang of bandits know as the Dragon Fangs. She steals a fairly large part of their treasure, then starts walking towards the nearest town to exchange them for money, and food! (Lina just kinda has a thing about food.) On the way to the town she is ambushed by the remainder of the Dragon Fangs. She is just about to blow them all away when a warrior named Gourry Gabriev pops in, expecting Lina to be a slinky babe. He slices all of the bandits up, and then "comes on" to Lina. When he finally gets a look at her, though, he is very disappointed. In his words, Lina is just "a flat-chested little girl".
Besides the aliases listed above, Lina is also known as "that flat-chested, brainless, breastless sorceress" and, in her own mind, "the beautiful, genius sorceress Lina Inverse".
Character Description: Lina Inverse
Bandits fear her. Innkeepers quake at the mention of her name. Even a dragon would want to stay away from the most famous sorceress in the world: Lina Inverse.
Yes, she's short. Yes, she lacks much of a figure. But anyone would be a fool to underestimate her. Her skill at magic is top-notch. Strongest with light and fire-based magic, her trademark and specialty is one of the most infamous spells in existence: the Dragon Slave. Few other spells can match its extraordinarily explosive power (To give you an idea, being in the middle of a Dragon Slave is like having a tactical nuke detonate on your head).
Her favorite activity is seeking out and attacking bandit gangs. Not that she does it out of any sense of justice. She does it to take the bandits' booty for herself.
With all the effort she puts out attacking bandits, laying down spells galore, and dealing with any company she might have, Lina builds up an incredible appetite. she has been known to order everything off a menu. Put her together with Gourry and the two can really clean house.
Like all magic-using women of this world, Lina has a biological weakness: her period, usually termed "that time of the month". Save for the simplest spells, women's magic tends to fizzle during "that time of the month".
In the past, Lina had traveled with Naga, but she is alone when the Slayers TV series begins. That's when she begins to gather quite a motley crew, including the strong but thick-headed swordsman Gourry, the misunderstood Zelgadis, the priestess Sylphiel, and the sorceress upstart Amelia.
