Anime Profile: Sword Art Online

It is the year 2022, and a new phenomenon has taken hold worldwide – Sword Art Online, a VRMMORPG (virtual reality massively multiplayer online role playing game) with a difference! That difference is an innovation known as 'Nerve Gear', a means of allowing the player to physically interface the game, interacting with the environment generated by it, which translates into a more realistic gameplay for the player.

However, upon the game's worldwide launch, something unexpected happens – the players find-out that there is no way for them to log-off from the game! It is later revealed by the game's creator Akihito Kayaba that the players MUST CLEAR all 100 levels of the game in order to escape. What's even worst, if the players die in the game, they also die in the real world, which includes any attempt of others on the outside to physically remove the Nerve Gear from the players! So now, with thousands trapped and with no way to escape, a small group of players, led by one of the game's beta testers, must survive the battles to come in order to confront Kayaba – and DEMAND their freedom!
