Wow, almost the weekend already. Where does the time go! Last Friday we went to a delicious BBQ at Treese's friend's place. We played a little Nintendo Wii while there, first some racing game which was extremely difficult to control, and then followed that up with a little Wii bowling and one round of Wii Tennis. The rest of our weekend was mostly spent watching season one of Jeremiah through Netflix streaming. This weekend we plan on watching the second season.

My wife and I went to see the midnight showing of District 9 on Thursday night along with a couple of her friends. When it was over, people actually applauded, and everyone in the theater seemed to really love the film. That made me feel like a bit of an outcast, as I didn't find it all that special. The first third of the film was mostly done in documentary-style format, which I found to be quite boring. It started getting more interesting towards the middle, though even then there was no clear goal established, so I kept thinking what is the point of this? The end really kicked up the action, and that was cool, especially with the alien weapons, but there was a couple plot points there that didn't make much sense to me. And then it ended, and I was like okay... is this really the end or... yep, the credits are rolling so I suppose it is.

After missing the midnight showing of G.I. Joe, we finally got around to seeing it this morning. I went in expecting it to be absolutely terrible, and while it was completely ridiculous, I was still entertained. I think also what helped me enjoy it was the fact that I just recently watched the new G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero Season 1.1 DVD box set, as that revealed how silly and absurd the classic cartoon was. So while you'll never see me going on record saying it was a great movie, I definitely enjoyed my experience and it truly felt like G.I. Joe.
After the movie we went over to a friends house, as they were having troubles with their computer. It took most of the day, but I finally got the trojans and malware removed. Doesn't sound like fun, but we both actually a nice time being out of our house, hanging out with friends. Plus, we had a delicious dinner of cheeseburgers made with real beef (we usually use ground turkey), followed by some homemade chocolate cake.
Earlier in the week I received a letter in the mail regarding the trial by written declaration I filed about the red light camera traffic ticket I received. The letter said that I was found not guilty due to "reasonable doubt as to identity". I was confident I would be found not guilty, but I'm glad to have it officially behind me. And I'll also be glad to get my $415 back.
