Character Description: L Lawliet
L is a private detective, the world's top detective. He never shows his face to anyone. When he makes his debuts it's with a computer screen that reads L and a mechanical voice. When he finally does reveal himself to only a chosen few, no one was prepared for what they saw. He's young, loves sweets and hates to wear shoes. He's very serious and hates to lose.
When he starts the Kira case, he immediately begins the investigation with Light. As Light tries to prove his innocence, L gets more proof that Kira is, in fact, Light. He even invites Light the join the Kira investigation in order to gain more evidence against him, but unfortunately Light is always three steps ahead.
L's full name, L Lawliet, is finally revealed in "How to Read 13", which is considered to be the 13th volume of the Death Note manga series. He was born on October 31, 1979, enters the series on December 4, 2003 at the age of 24, and dies on November 5th of the following year at age 25. However, the anime adjusts the years a bit, making L's birth occurring in 1982.

I hated light from the moment he punched L. Before that, I was unsure (I'm talking about the anime atm) because when Light followed Ray Penbar in his hoodie and then made his fiancee commit suicide, he looked pretty evil in an awesome way but when he punched L I could have killed him. Also though I LOVE Near, he's the perfect successor to L and if L hadn't died... Now I just have to decide if I prefer L or N. ... show more »

He shouldn't've died. He definately was the best character in Death Note. Then again, if he didn't die, we wouldn't've had Near or Mello. And if Near and Mello weren't there, then the series wouldn't've ended like it did-- with Mello and Matt helping to kidnap Takada, Mello and Matt dying, Light dying, blah blah blah. The point is, if L hadn't've died, then the series would've been COMPLETELY different. ... show more »

I can't believe that Ryuzaki dies. It's horrible! I love him so much! He's so sweet... LIKE STRAWBERRIES...... ._. Okay that was stupd. BUT HE STILL DIES!!! The thing is, I can't hate Light either. OH! And that "Katrina Lawliet' shouldn't hate Near!!!! He has done nothing wrong! D,X

L was a great character. he was my favorite on death note, and i hate it when ppl call him weird! of course he's weird! that's why he's frickin awesome XD
seriously though-- i hate it that he had to die. he is one of the best anime people ever!

I love L soooooo much!!!! I had a fit when he died. Im still crying and i saw that 5 days ago.....Light needs 2 burn!
