Character Description: Asato Tsuzuki
Asato Tsuzuki is the head top Guardian of Death in the Kyushu branch of Hades (where the Guardians of Death work), although he's not really aware of it. This is because Tsuzuki has an addiction to food. He runs high food bills, especially when it comes to sweets and cakes (his favorite is apple pie), which is not taken well by Tatsumi the penny-pinching secretary. Because of his skill he somehow manages to get off every time, but it's still hard for him to hang onto a partner. Tsuzuki's newest partner is Hisoka.
Even though Tsuzuki seems to be immature and far too kind for his own good, he has a serious side too. He tends to take everything serious in his own ways, but especially certain cases. Tsuzuki seems to detest Muraki most of all for what he's done not only to Hisoka but to so many others as well.
Tsuzuki can summon the twelve animal gods (or "Shinigami") according to the manga, however in the anime it is only three- Suzaku (a fire-bird), Byakko (a tiger), and a snake.
His dark past obviously affects what kind of a person he is now, and he seems to constantly regret what's happened to him.
Asato Tsuzuki is the slacker of the department. In the department Tsuzuki would be called the worse Guardian of Death. But that might not be the case since some wacko guy (Muraki) is after him. But despite the idiot side, there is part of him that is serous. At first his past is unknown, but as time goes it comes out.

I agree with hosao. When is his sister Ruka killed and why or was she even. I understand that even someonr llike me with red ahir and green eyes would have a difficult time in that era, but not controdict the author violet eyes, while not the norm, they do happen

Ok, lets try this again when I'm not exhausted from working 12 hours and can actually see the screen and speak like an educated adult. I don't think Tsuzuki is gay and I think he just likes Hisoka and feels for him and all the suffering he's been through. Remember he tends to be almost overly kind and wants to protect everyone, then beats himself up when he can't. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against yaoi or gays. My best friend is gay. I'm not sure what he is, but like I said as in LOTR (my fav books and movie) Sam and Frodo are closer than brothers because of shared adversity and empathy for one another. Hisoka knows Tsuzuki understands the pain he went through and is one person who he can always count on. Tsuzuki is the first person to reach out to Hisoka in a caring way so Hisoka does the same to save Tsuzuki, As I said, feel free to disagree. Ok, this MY opinion (feel free to disagree.) Astatos relationship with Hisoka DOESN"T mean he's gay neccessarily. Yes he cares for him and has deep symapathy and empathy for the boys suffering, but just like Sam and Frodo in LOTR that in and of itself doesn't mean he's gay. He's just a very kind person and has a close friendship with Hisoka. Honestly after what Muraki did to the poor kid can you honestly believe hte kid could have a sexual relationship? And Asato ain't all there either. He's got issues too so who knows what his sexuality is? ... show more »
