Is that a raster image i see in the background?! O_O A very nice touch, even though I'm contradicting what I said a few posts ago about not mixing raster and vector. You're getting very good. I see you've utilized the preset grass brush tool, which is a goody. I used that on more than one occasion. I'm also glad to see the grass is different tints and shades of green, makes it look real nice.

As for the water, time to use the liquify effect! Doing it by hand works, but to get a much nicer result, refer to this nifty tutorial. It's fast and easy.

You can also use the liquify effect without flipping an image horizontally (for the rest of the water that isnt a reflection). Just mix some different shades of blue together, select that area with the lasso tool (yeehaw), and then liquify it. Works like a charm.

Now for shadow of the girl, it looks like in some places you burned the shadow multiple times, making the shadow blotchy. I'm not saying it's too dark, rather in places it's heavy. To remedy that, you'd either have to burn the shadow all in one click, which is harder than it looks, or turn the opacity down and go over it a few times.

Just a few things to maybe try out. Great job though, you're definitely getting better.

Hahaha yeah i know about the shadow XD whats a raster image btw? and i has another water drawing so i'll use that tutorial for that!! i didnt flip the image either, i dont know why people think i did XD i just did the reflection by hand, then went over it with a lower opacity brush with a blue colour on it

A vector image is line art. Something that can be magnified by infinity and still have clear, concise lines. Otherwords, it can't be pixelated. Th only real universal format for lineart is .eps, that I'm aware of.

Raster Images are everything else, about 98% of whats on the internet. Your avatar, any google images, those are all raster images. If you magnify these above their base size, they will get pixelated, blocky and nasty looking. Any real life images are raster images.

What I was asking, was whether your skyline in that picture was something you created, or something you took from a real-life image. It looks real, yet it doesnt clash with your art because it's subtle.

I finally got Photoshop CS

And I officially am lost with it >.<

I can't even find the contrast thing or put a single tint of color!

Photoshop can be a tricky one, if you don't know all of her secrets. And yes, it is a her, and her name is Matilda.

When you launch CS, there should be your normal palette on the left hand side. Unless you have CS3, it should be defaulted to the '2-tools-a-row' way, in which case the tool you're looking for is right underneath the gradient tool (The burn tool is what its called, and it's 6th from the top on the right).

Now, that's not all. If you hover over the tool I just told you to, youll notice is says Dodge Tool. This will give you highlights. To get to the burn tool to give you shades, you have to click and hold on the dodge tool, and move your mouse a bit to the right. This will show more options and youll see the burn tool.

In addition, any tools on the left hand palette that has a little arrow in the bottom-right of the button, that means there are more option underneath, hidden. They do this to keep the workspace less cluttered. Once you get the hang out it it's simple.

If it's turned off, that could be a big source of your troubles. The box should have all the tools you need.

Yes, it's the long box on the left. Actually, the shading/highlights tool in the one right below the one you have selected in your picture.

To get ALL the tools, click on that box and drag your mouse a bit. More tools will come up. Like I said before, once you get it it's real easy.
