Personally I blame ignorent parents for letting their kids play violent games. They don't put age ratings on the packaging because it makes it look good.

An update to this little situation, Jack Thompson had made a proposal if someone made a game with his special ultraviolent videogame about a father who is going on a rampage to avenge his son's death by a videogame obessed junkie , He would donate $10,000 dollars to the ESA Foundation. Well, some GTA modders acually made his game. He then turns around and breaks his promise, and insults videogames, saying that gamers were stupid for not understanding his "true meaning". What a lowlife.

However, Penny Arcade donated $10,000 to the ESA Foundation because he went back on his word, and get this; They donated it in his name! A slap in the face. Kudos to Gabe and Tycho. They also got a message from this idiot saying "take this message down or else", and well, just read for yourselves. The articles are very short, and I encourage everyone to read them!

I seriously doubt one man could ban them.
My own mother once told me that she didn't like me playing violent games - saying that they weren't exactly healthy.
I turned around and asked her what was so bad about them. All my Mom came up with is that Violence isn't good and that I should know that.

I laughed.

I told her that the violence isn't the thing in the game people buy it for - it's usually the genre of the game and the fact they can let their rage out in the game and not in real life.

If Jack Thompson took it away then we'd more then likely turn our rage on him and be worse then when we had our 'violent' video games.

I just posted a long report on a recent calfornia ban on selling video games with any violence to minors. In addition it seems litke they are pushing to make the ban national by next year. THe opposition is high to this however and it is unkown weather it will actually go through.

I don't see why not, he appears to spend his time going around video game boards and websites trolling around. Check the Joystik page with my comments on it. I was replying to a post that Mr. Thompson wrote on the page. He also appeared to have found the Penny Arcade page and took offense at that.
