Princess Mononoke check it out Dark Lily

Princess Mononoke: First animated movie I saw and I have to say that I was quite impressed. Ranks up there with Spirited Away.

Set back in Feudal Japan, it deals with Spirits of the forest. . . . well to explain this a lot easier, it's basically man vs. nature. In the movie there is no right or wrong, good guy or bad. It's just everyone living their lives how they see fit. A village called Iron town is clearing a forest on a mountain to get at the metal deposits for their gunsmiths. The downside of this is that the animals of the forest, I think they are called guardians and/or Gods, live there and are defending it. War breaks out between the two and only a young girl (princess mononoke) and a young man from a far off village can set things right.

The voice cast was great! Animation was some of the best I've seen and fell in love with the plot. Definatly worth the look I think.

Definitly rent it, its my third favorite movie of all time. One of my few small problems with it, tho, is that I never did figure out what Ashitaka was really trying to accomplish. I know that the whole man vs. nature with no good or bad guys adds to the depth of the story, but I never really knew what direction he was headed in.

The one movie that got me watching Anime's, favorite anime movie of all time (I've seen very few) and Angel of Death, Ashitaka was trying to cure the curse/plaque that he was infected with/had cast on him at the very start of the movie but he ends up trying to protect San/Princess Mononoke... the guardians are called gods in the movie

He left his village and was not allowed to return. The "bone lady", no idea what else you would call her, told him of this quest that he must undertake. He goes off in search of the main god. I don't remember his name but Yuris might. He is supposedly the only one that can cure him and Mononoke is the only one that can show him there.

Well I knew all that, and thats his main objective from the start. Im talking about I dont know what he was trying to accomplish when it came to the war between humans and gods. I mean he wanted peace between them, but Irontown would not be able to make enough money to survive.
