Engrish in Japanese songs...

Post by Keiji »

Who else hates it when they put English words in Japanese songs? IMO it just makes it sound stupid.

It's okay when it's just a single word, but when you get to phrases or even whole lines (cough Maburaho credits cough), it gets really ridiculous.

Awww... but Engrish is just so fun!

OH YA MISTA DEEEEE!!! :-s

Okay, maybe Engrish is a little bit weird at times, especially Ken-chan's Engrish which I have just demonstrated, but it is fun to hear so many singers try (and fail) to say words like love.

My favorite would have to be Namie Amuro's "We Will Love Long Long Time" in "Can You Celebrate?" I know there are several others, but that's the only one comming to mind haha

Hyde's English accent is pretty good... but I don't think he can speak a great deal of English. He must learn his songs phonetically, which I think is pretty difficult. But Hyde is a genius... =P~

And I remembered another of my favourite bits of Engrish:

I don't mind engrish in some Japanese songs. My favourite engrish song would be Heart of Madness.(Fist of the North Star.)I swear, half of it is in Engrish and the other half Japanese, lol. Still cool though.

There are a few songs sung in partly Japanese and English from Urusei Yatsura, they don't sound too bad to me.

Oh God, the Hellsing Opening is possibly the worst English I've ever heard. I like the song but the English is god awful

I always found it neat how they mix english into their songs, but us english people can't do the same and still make it sound good. Yes I admit some songs should be without but a lot work perfectly with it :bounce:

It's a fad that they have right now, they think it's uber cool to have english words mixed into their music. It's nothing new, it's all over the place in Japan. Not just crappy anime openings...I think all Japanese music is weird and stupid, but I know that much.
