One of the best rock albums of 2006

Post by OniKira »

Call it emo or gothic, and I'll know right away you haven't heard the album in full and are just using this band's past stereotype.

My Chemical Romance-The Black Parade

This album came out a few days ago, and I picked it up yesterday. Why? When I heard Welcome to the Black Parade, I knew their new album wouldn't be like their previous ones. And I was correct.

The Black Parade is not the MCR you know. If you dare call this emo or gothic, you honestly don't know what you're talking about, and it becomes obvious you haven't actually listened to the album. Black Parade is more of a concept album, and is far more polished and well written, sung, and played than any other previous MCR album. Gerard Way has worked on his vocals quite a bit, and the album definitely benefits from it.

I will say that the album does have it's dark roots, yet it mainly tells the story of a cancer patient, affectionately named The Patient, and how he mentally percieves his upcoming death. The Black Parade is an album in which Way explore morbid emotions.

The End! starts the album off perfectly, and the songs keep getting better and better. This Is How I Dissappear is one of my favorite tracks. Of course, when you get to Welcome to the Black Parade, you become overpowered by emotion. The stunning lyrics and melodies made me cry on the first listen. Cancer is a slow and sorrowful song that can also make you cry.

I've never been able to appreciate MCR that much until now. This will be one of the best musical purchases I've made for this year, and hopefully it can be for you aswell.

Ew! Shittiest band. :x

The best album of 2006 is obviously the High School Musical Soundtrack.

The Self titled Pearl Jam CD was pretty damn good.

I have yet to get the third cd, but I have heard that it is even better than the first one, which is really good by the way. I do have, thanks to the notorious187kokemule, senses fail's third cd, which is in itself amazing, and I also suggest picking up this cd along with My Chems. Its pretty good.

Sorry, but I hate MCR. I just find them as pretenders, and their songs are just so annoying.

I'm likely to buy Evanescence's new album, The Open Door. I'm also looking forward to Savior Sorrow by Mushroomhead.

Yay, I love Evanescence!

That said, I do respect your opinion, but what I don't want happening is people simply not giving this album the time of day based on its past. Black Parade is wildly different, and is honestly worth a listen to.

I heard "Welcome to the Black Parade" on the radio last night. My first impression was "Lame" my second impression was "Boring" :P

I heard the album. It's crap. And yeah, emo/goth. They are an emo goth band. Denying that is denying the band.

My favorite album this year, so far, has been the Duels album. Can't get enough of it.

"One of the best rock albums of 2006"

I think that's more of an insult than a compliment.

Yeah. I herd this song. The first thing I said was "Ewwww..." and then I deleted the mp3 off my computer.
