Haruhiism??? Didn't know anyone could get this obsessed

Ok by now a lot of people who search youtube and people who are regular anime fans have heard of a series called The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Right? well i was on wikipedia and desided to search the series just to see what they on the series and they had a articale on what people call "Haruhiism" and people who like the sereis enough are called "Haruhiists" (in the same manner that Star Trek fans are Trekkies) and i after reading it i was surprised because the series spread across Japan like a dame plage and its still that popular after only a year and this is serprising to me because th series is so small only 14 episodes. So to some of you who already know this you probrably know how popular this dame series is and how crazy the dame fans are and how many TRYED TO DO THAT DANCE in the ending video but to all of you who don't what i am ralking about look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haruhism

It has its fans, just like any other show. But while I like Haruhi, I don't quite understand its immense appeal and popularity.

lol that was funny... anyway... if some one realyl gets obssed about a tv showi mean jeez... i go through anime like they are toilet paper, and i usually 4get about them after i complete the series.

i only recently finished the meloncholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (within the last 3 months), and so i still remember a bit from it. it's a really good show i recommend for people to watch it if they haven't yet ^_^

Well I began watching it, and I'm deciding if i'm continuing. I'd have to say, episode 1 was really weird. And a lot of people skipped it, but i watched most of it. So I hear that they actually showed all the episodes in the wrong order and at the end of the series they reveal the correct order?

Don't judge it by the first episode, which seems a little strange, it becomes understandable when you learn about the context of concerning the episode. The series as a whole is very good, and I loved the many parody references to Escaflowne, Phoenix Wright, Gundam, Hard Gay, Macross 7, Space Battleship Yamato, Full Metal Panic, etc. I personally liked watching it in order better, but that's just me.

And here we have yet another amusing Haruhi incident that I found on another forum, japanese police scatter a crowd of Haruhiists dancing on the street by nonchalantly walking towards them.

this is serprising to me because th series is so small only 14 episodes.

I didn't notice this the first time, but its popularity in Japan at least, is because it wasn't originally an anime. It was a series of 9 light novels(basically prose novels with manga illustrations), that had been published since the early 2000s, with a 10th one to be released at some point in the near future.
