No offence, but why would Tite Kubo or any manga artist pick a random name for their work? The name should be related to the plot somehow, and should also be interesting enough for people to remember it, so they can identify it from other series.

In this case, I think Bleach is an interesting name because immediately people think it's unusual and/or different. Usually series are named after the main character or something that relates to the theme or genre of the series.

Like I said before, I agree with Lenfa in the theory that the name Bleach relates to the Shinigami's work, cleansing souls. However, the name Bleach can also make us think of the product, which kills germs. Maybe Tite Kubo decided to use bleach as a metaphor for the Shinigami's work.
