Soul is the weapon of technician Maka Albarn. He can transform into a demon scythe whenever he wants.
His personality is described to be "twisted and sarcastic" and has a knack for attacking directly. However, overtime he becomes more mature and learns to become cool headed. His personality may seem the polar opposite of his technician but their wavelength are always in perfect sync. He also may have some strong feelings for his technician also.
In episode 8, after a meister named Chrona cut Soul open using her demon blade with black blood named Ragnarok, it was was revealed that Soul now has black blood also which gave Soul a power increase but also increased the risk of his soul swallowing Maka's soul and driving her into insanity.
Soul also has a talent for playing the piano. His technician, Maka, reveals in episode 31 that when they first met he played a dark song for her on the piano. The reason for his talents with the piano is that he was from a family of musicians. His brother Wes is a famous violinist. However Soul wanted to find a way to break off from his family tradition of being a musician. When he found out he was able to turn into a scythe, he used his ability as a scapegoat in order to leave his family.

Soul IS pretty hot and I gotta agree with like 2/3 of you guys. There's no way in Death Academy (or Hell) he's under the age of 16. Too deep of a voice, too mature, and I don't think the witch Blair would be into a kid. That just doesn't seem right.

I agree with whiteclock that Soul is around the age 16-18, because of all the facts stated AND lets not forget that Soul is a demon scythe, and age doesn't show on demons. He could be in his 20s for all we know, but he's for sure not 12, nor 13, 14 or even 15. His voice and character is too mature. He's a matured bad-[censored].

Hes so epic, hes got the frikin perfect personality, but, I personally think Maka is annoying and her and Soul arent a good couple. But thats my opinion.

I think Soul is in the anime about 14. Because in Soul Eater Not! the Protagnist attend Shibusen at the age of 14 and is a freshman.
In the newest Chapter of Soul Eater I think they are around 16. (Soul had grown up so much and Maka looks much more feminine o.o!) ... show more »

Soul is my favorite character from any anime! Soul eater is my favorite show! i love blackstar too but thats only cuz his voice in the english version! and if i ever heard a 13 year old with souls voice i would get creeped out pretty badly.

For starters, i thought soul would be around the age of 15 (in the beginning). In fact, i thought that ALL of the students that attended the school were around the age of 15. And yes i do agree that Soul and Maka have great chemistry (especially in episode 5 where he says 'Back away- I won't let you touch my meister!' (Come on people, that's just a little more than just 'friendship' feelings! (we all know it!)) Have i have to admit, Soul is... how can i put this without offending my other favorite character in the series (Death the Kid <3). I love Soul - he has such an awesome personality! I rank his and Makas relationship Number 1 in Animes Cutest Couples - I screamed when he protected Maka in ep 5 - 'Back away- I won't let you touch my meister !' AAAAAAGGGHHHHH CUTE!!!
