Absolute Anime

Thats bad, Yugioh is great

This is a pain I know all to well, but it's a burden we anime-lovers have to bare. Of course, amongst my circle of friends, anime is the best thing since sliced bread

Well, some of my friends think I'm weird b/c I like it so much. I don't care though. I have like only 1 other friend that likes it too. It's ok, cause we watch them together!

People didn't tease me about liking anime, because I was the quiet puppet master of my high school. Actually, no one made fun of me for anything. But, the people around where I live, as well as most of my family, think that anyone over 12 shouldn't watch cartoons. So, my anime watching has become slightly secretive. But I have anime loving friends, and it is good to be away from home at college.

My friends are currently into fanfiction(mostly harry potter) but yeah a few people at my school ike it ,so we use it as desktops.Teachers keep deleteing stuff thought,guess their not fans.

I was made fun of because I liked Pokemon. IN GRADE ONE!!! I was SIX for crying out loud!!!! And this guy STILL thinks I like the show (I like the games more now), and he's a guy who got 14 behavior problems last month, and got kicked off the bus for swearing at the driver.
*fume*

No one has really teased me about it, but I have gotten some pretty snide remarks.
Example #1(Last Year) - I used to have this lunch box and since eating during lunch has become a non-occurrence, I decided to put all of my manga in there(my lunch box) instead. Needless to say, I've gotten a few odd looks here and there...Whenever lunch came up, I'd happily whip out a book and start reading while the rest of my 27 or so classmates ate.
Well, a guy a year younger than me came up to me one day while I was on the bus, and asked me what a lunch box was. I nodded. He told me(in a tone used for children) that a lunch box was supposed to hold food, NOT 'kiddie books'. I told him to go to hell.(Sorry for the profanity; he really was asking for it.)
Example #2: My friend was reading a manga on the bus.
The girl in front of me stole the book and flipped through the pages. Obviously, she had a hard time reading it. My friend told her that it was 'manga' and that it was read from right to left.
Her response was, "God, this is a load of [censored]."
I was offended. Very offended. But I kept my mouth shut.

But really, it's their loss, not mine. I actually find it amusing most of the time. Anime isn't the same thing as cartoons.(I find that highly irritating... Especially when they try to group anime as just Poke’mon or Sailor Moon. Really, it’s been -how- many years?) When I draw in class, an occasional fellow student would come up behind me and ask if that was Poke'mon or Sailor Moon because 'it sure looks like it'. *sigh* So painfully oblivious...

Last Example: #3 - I dislike art teachers(please don't take this into offense.), at least, the art teachers in my school. I draw a decent amount of anime and every time, after class, my art teacher would walk up to me and ask me when I'm going to stop drawing 'cartoons' and work on other ARTISTIC things. I feel insulted... I have nothing against other types of art, but I'd feel a lot better if she'd AT LEAST respect my drawings and I. It was recently announced that 'anime' would become an official type of art. And she's supposed to be an art teacher...? *sighs once more* (Figures she’d be more supportive of her -other- students... It’s like anime is looked down on nowadays.)

Anyways, I'm sorry for the long rant; I'll try to vent elsewhere next time. Thank you anyways. Just know that you aren't the only frustrated anime-lover out there, because God knows there's many more...

And Anime is gaining a wider audience every day. We are just ahead of the curve.

I suppose you're right, Dark Lilly. It'll eventually reach towards more and more people, but it'll take some time.
