Help identify this movie

It was one of those Tales from the Crypt style films with the "crypt keeper" introducing the story. I remember it had a desolate atmosphere and it took place in a Midwestern motel. The protagonist has this item (it looks like a key fused with a vial) that contains blood. When the blood is smeared along the edges of a doorframe, it prevents undead from passing through. The guy looked kind of like William Saddler (Heywood from Shawshank Redemption, Traitor guy from The Mist), though it might have been him - my memory's fuzzy. I watched it around the mid 90's. Any guesses?

So it is TftC... And Billy Zane is in it? I don't remember seeing him at all. But maybe it's because I watched it when I was 8. Thanks for the answer... I'm off to downlo... rent the movie.

Billy Zane is the demon....Jada Pinket is the young black girl as well... Then you also had the father from Frasier and the dude that played the Sandman in Spidey 3 in there as well....
