Japanese Language >>Help!<<

It's not nearly as complex as English, but as usual we find ways to screw it up.

Japanese Language >>Help!<<

Post by Ms. Fluffy Butt »

I'm confused!
When do you use -kun, -sama, -chan, -sensei, -senpai, etc in calling Naruto names?
Why is it Naruto-kun, Hinata-sama, Sakura-chan, Gaara-sama, Kakashi-sensai?
Thanks for answering!!

depending on who your talking to you, and your relationship with them, you use the differant words, but you always use them.

kun is something you'd call a little brother, or if your a girl someone you think is cute, but it can be used as an insult if used in the wrong context.

sama is for people who out rank you, or are better than you.

chan is...well, i'm not quite sure ](*,)

sensei means teacher, which is used for everybody from school teachers, to martial arts instructors to doctors.

senpai means elder, you call someone older and wiser than you that.

thats abotu all i know, there are more i think, like shisho, which means master, which dont come up that often. oh, and if i made any mistakes, please correct me, this is just what i've pulled togeather from watching anime.

-Chan is for friend so is -sama

-kun is mostly used in regards for a guy friend.

--There's also -dono, which is old-fashioned, and a bit more respectful than -sama. You can see it a lot in anime and manga in traditional Japanese settings.

Is there a specific reason you want this thread erased...? I don't really see anything wrong with it, I guess besides the fact that the name endings are covered in other threads. I'll just lock it, but PM me if there's some master reason for which I should erase it.
