I don't know if I'd use something that's itself based on another card game.

As for those El-Hazard ones, sounds interesting. I'll look into the cost of Eye of God, especially since you say it should ignore Protection from Artifacts.

Technically the Seal is currently an anime exclusive. It does not yet exist in the card game.

Name: Lina Inverse
Cost: 3red 3black
Type: Legendary Wizard
Power/Toughness: 3/4
Effect: Haste
XX 1red 1black Tap, Lina deals X damage to target creature.
While in play, all bandit/thief are -1/-1.
Flavor text: Bandit Killer, Dragon Spooker, Enemy of all who live.
"There you go adding to my bad reputation again!"

I was going on her speciality, offensive/destructive magic, and her personality, violent with an evil streak at times.

It had been my impression that Lina's specialties were fire and light, so I thought her two elements should be fire and light. Also had to ease the effect cost to make it closer to known cards.

Lina Inverse

Now I'm thinking about cards that deal with the graveyard or library (to keep things interesting).

Name: Crystal Chamber
Cost: 4colorless

"These chambers represent the life essence that has left their body." -Hellmaster Phibrizo

If my ideas seem limited to a couple anime series, it is because I am using what I know best.

Understood. I ended up stuck thinking about El-Hazard for a while and thought about the Priestesses and Nanami. Ideas just popped into my head, and I ended up working up cards for each of them, though I'm still fine-tuning them. Now I need to dredge up my knowledge of other series.

Protection from Illusions for Nanami, yes, but actually, I was thinking in lines of negating shadow, which is the ability to only be countered by other creatures with shadow (it seemed to me the closest thing to illusive stealth). She would be able to block as if she had shadow, and she would have abilities to temporarily stop shadow.

Nanami Jinnai

The Talisman ideas (specifically, Ring of Water, Lamp of Fire, and Lamp of the Winds) is interesting, but I had thought in terms of the Priestesses themselves (I already had Miz with Islandwalk, Shayla with First Strike, and Afura with Flying) as well as individual abilities activated by appropriate mana (still tuning them).

Creatures with shadow have become few, and far between. But, I do understand your train of thought.

True, but there are many shadow creatures that are still in circulation, so it's still useful.

In the meantime, I delved into my knowledge and picked up a pretty interesting character to make into a creature.

Golgo 13

His tap effect seems cheap, but it's pretty noticable in high-cost hish-stat black creatures. And his block destroyer effect is a unique variation.

That ability isn't that cheap. I have seen it before on high cost black creatures, like you said.

Pit Spawn, an actual Magic card, has first strike, and when it deals damage to a creature, remove the damaged creature from the game. If that isn't cheap, then nothing is.

Here is a creature that could affect the graveyard.
Name: Hellmaster Phibrizo
Cost: 3black X5colorless
Type: Legendary Minion of Shabranigdo
Power/Toughness: 3/6
Effect: Place one soul token on Phibrizo per one spent on X.
Remove a soul token, bury target creature or return target creature from the graveyard to play.
4colorless, regenerate target creature.
"Human souls are merely my play things."

I guess no one else wants to submit ideas, just for the heck of it. I think that this is something to have fun doing.

Thank you, WhoWantsToKnow, for at least posting the ideas of the people who tried to think up something.

Pit Spawn is a bit overkill, even with a BB cumulative upkeep.

At the moment, I'm trying to think of proper effects for Hitomi Kanzaki from Escaflowne that relate to the library (I picked her because she's known for her divining powers). I figured a draw-and-discard and a library search would make good effects, but I can't pin down good costs.

Usually, blue manipulates the library.

I would say, draw-and-discard shouldn't be that expensive, since you are giving up something for something else. Library searches usually cost different amounts based on what happens during the search. Puting a card in hand is slightly more expensive than putting it on top of deck.
