re: Stand Alone complex
This is a kick-ass series, that I for one, heartilly indorse. The action is dark, and often interlaced with, yes, dare I say it... PLOT POINTS... it's not the type of series that you can glance at occasionally, you need to actually be paying attention to fully appreciate it.
I suppose I have something of a personal attachment for this series, because of my affection for a old RPG (an offline one) on which the Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex series is based, called Cyberpunk. The game itself was pretty cool, considering it's age (I think it's like late 80s/early 90s or something when it first came out). I remember I got to sit in on a few missions, my personal best was as a Merc. assigned to take out a Govt official. I pretty much wiped the floor with the rest of the players (Cops assigned to stop me) so badly, and hit my target right away, so the GM had to get real inventive just to keep the game going. About an hour or so later, I'd shot my target out of his house, an armored transport, and a rescue style skyship. It was funny as heck, because my charicter was pretty weak, she just kept getting lucky.... oh and I finally did kill him (along with destroying or wounding most of the opposing players)... mission accomplished. I went that mission solo (IE Stand Alone) so even the title appeals to me.
Dark Universe, Dark Anime, hey what can I say, I like it. I make no apologies, even though from what I've seen on this forum (My Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex RPG got deleted 30 seconds after I put it up) I Stand Alone.
