As you should know is that Envy is a homuculus. What you don't know is who created him. Well, the one who did that was in fact Ed and Al's father, Hoenheim of the light. Before he had ed and al, Hoenheum was in love with another woman. They had one son, who died from mecury poisoning. In his sadness, he tried to bring him back to life, and failed. The end result of his failed transmutation, was in fact a homunculus, who isnow know as Envy, When you think of it technichly, envy is Ed and Al's brother.
