All the I-Jin in the OVA series have names given of the hispotrical person they were before being cloned except the leader. This makes me wonder who he was in his real life.
I suspect the reason his name was not given is because it was someone whose estate or family would object to his name being used. Since Yumiko refers to him as a writer of "love songs", the obvious candidate is John Lennon, the Beatle who was assassinated in 1980. (And it pains me to the core that I feel the need to epxlain who John Lennon was....)
Yoko Ono would no doubt have had strong objections to having her late husband protrayed as a genocuidal supervillain....

His name is Ikkyu. A Chinese buddisht monk that thought he had found enlightenment in earthly pleasures. He wrote many poems about life, and love.
