Zero: Legacy of war
Prologue: This fan-fiction was greatly inspired by both Gundam Wing and Samurai X/Ruroni Kenshin: Wandering Samurai. The time is set in a feudal era, similar to Japan’s.
---------------------------------------------------
As the moon began to fall Saiji walked along the dusty road to the smith of his village, feeling the cool autumn air flow across his face. His black hair flowing in the breeze, lightly drifting across his shoulders. As he slid the door of the smith, Tosa’s home the sun began to crest the mountains.
“Hello, you came just in time, I finally got the edge of the sword perfect, this may be my best blade in a long time,” Said Tosa, who was dipping the red hot blade into a vat of cool water, causing steam to billow out and fill the room briefly.
“It’s been three years since you started on this blade, and it truly is a work of art” replied Saiji, who was then picking up te blade, admiring it’s perfect balance, and razor sharp edge. Then he noticed an engraving on the blade ( Younger Brother Spirit)
“What’s this” asked Saiji, not knowing why this was engraved on his blade.
“This blade is one of two made from the same steel, wood, and leather, the other went to your friend Tsura about five months ago. That’s the reason he came back.
“I see, so then, how are the preparations coming, is everyone ready, be have a difficult battle approaching tomorrow, and I will be the only one fighting on this side, since all of the other village men, have died in the war already, and now it appears that they want to take our home away as well”
“Yes it does, however this war won’t end, even if one side destroys every man on the other, there will always be someone to begin a new revolution, the only why we could ever hope to win a war like this, is for there to be no warriors left, our village died out in a battle against the emperor’s army, and he wishes to make an example of us. You can probably stop them with that blade, as you know it’s not an ordinary sword. “ Solemnly replied Tosa.
“Yes, it has part of your soul, and mine, and all those who died in battle. War will only end when there are no more warriors, that is this blade’s true nature.”
With that Saiji left walking out of his village, which was already dying, many of the people had left, and there were abandoned and broken down homes everywhere. He entered his own, picked up the scabbard that used to hold his father’s sword and sheathed his own inside it. Then he took his Obi, and tied the sheath to it, then he took a Tanto and placed it in the obi as well.. then he left the village, and headed towards the emperor’s palace, towards the battlefield. Thinking back to when he watched his father and mother be slain on the battlefield. His father was fighting to try to hold the Emperor’s forces back, and his mother was standing by surrounded by soldiers, going to be taken away for aiding in a rebellion, and killed. His father was trampled to death by a horse during the fight, and he managed to escape, only to have to watch his mother be hanged the next day. He could clearly remember seeing her body dangling by the rope on the gallows, choking to death for several minutes. Snapping back into reality, wiping the tears off his face he turned towards the exit of his home, and left.
Two days of uneventful traveling later he arrived, arrow filled and decapitated corpses filled the ground, which was died red with blood. The Emperor’s men were forcing their way through the rebels, several archers killing more men by the second, and those locked in combat were fighting fiercely. Blood flew out in all directions coating those locked in combat until they appeared to be nothing but red figures in armor, oozing with some demonic substance. Those that fell blended into the ground and quickly became nothing more than the ground to their comrades and friends. This is the hell that awaited Seiji, and this was the path he had chosen.
He took his sword up, and charged into the fray, he cut down one of the emperor’s men and one of the rebels quickly, before they could respond, slicing the rebel’s arm off then cutting the military warrior’s stomach open so that he would fall with his blade into the rebel. Then he fell under attack by another warrior, who slashed his left arm, the pain was almost debilitating, but Saiji forced his body to continue driving his blade into the stomach of the warrior, and then wrenching into upwards into his head, where he then removed it. Covered in blood.
By then another soldier had attacked him, he was able to block one of the blows, however was struck by an arrow in the leg, which was sticking out about four inches on either side, causing blood to spray out. Seiji pushed on to kill the rebel warrior, by slicing off his head, and cleaving into another military fighter’s stomach, the blood spraying out and covering two other rebels, who he proceeded to decapitate, their heads staring back ant him he proceeded to walk over them into another combat.
After several hours of fighting both sides had lost significant numbers, and Saiji was one of the few remaining warriors. There were only about fifty men left, about half imperial, half rebel, who were fighting each other with vigor. Saiji continued on through the battle killing four more warriors, who were engaged in combat at the time. Finally he saw Tsura, holding the other blade, engraved in the blade, now soaked with blood as well, was (Elder Brother Spirit). Tsura’s usually white hair was now dyed red, dripping with blood, his fair face barely recognizable under the mask of muscle, blood, and lives. He was wearing his father’s armor, which was now so soaked with blood it looked like someone had flayed off Tsura’s skin to reveal his ribs.
Opening his mouth for the first time during the battle Saiji said to Tsura “I am going to end this war, and to do so I must slay you, don’t hold this against me.” With that Saiji charged his best friend Tsura, intending to kill him.
Tsura parried the attack and replied to Saiji’s remark “Why are you fighting both sides of this battle, and why must you kill me. This war can be won today, and we can fight together as allies?”
Beginning a second attack on Tsura Saiji responded, “Because no war can be won, if we win then those surviving warriors will hate our cause, and will rise up again, we must fight, for I plan to end war today, by killing every last warrior alive on this battlefield, it’s been seven years since this war began, and both sides are focusing their entire armies here, it is the only way we can truly end this war!”
Deflecting the attack and making another, which Saiji deflected, Tsura replied, “I can’t allow you to do that, my allies and I are almost defeated, as are the forces of the Emperor this will be the final battle, for control. Never again will there be a war Saiji!”
Making one final attack Saiji replied “If you win then in the future another revolution will occur, in which another war will occur, and this cycle will never end until all warriors are destroyed! I must fight, not for a new way of life, not for the old, but for an end to war, I plan to end this today, and burry all warriors, and these burry war itself!”
With this final statement Saiji punched through Tsura’s defense by drawing his Tanto and stabbing him through the stomach. Then he turned on the last few warriors and killed them, his body now soaked with blood, and weakened because of his wounds turned around, seeing Tosa standing there, he removed the (Elder Brother Spirit) from Tsura and threw it into Tosa’s head, Tosa willingly took the blow, and fell to the ground. Saiji then carried all of the hundreds of soldiers’ corpses to a large ditch, and buried them, by removing a rock then was holding the dirt back from filling the ditch, something he had put there about a year before, with this intent.
Now Saiji, weakened to the point that he could barely stand climbed up the stairs of the Emperor’s palace, and began to speak to the emperor “Sakari I will kill you now, you can’t resist this any more” and impaled the emperor, who was unable to draw his blade in time, on the (Younger Brother Spirit).
Then Saiji carried the emperor’s corpse to an area near the ditch, and fell onto his sword, impaling himself on the blade, his last words were “Tsura, now that we can’t fight anymore, we have created a world of peace.” He then coughed a large amount of blood up, and died, leaving only his corpse on the blood soaked battlefield uncovered, impaled on a blade, a monument to the sacrifice given for peace.

re: "Zer0" - PG13-R (Somewhere in there)
This piece is ok! Only 20minutes!
I know that you can easily improve it if you spend more time on it. But I mean, it didnt really seem that you had continueing this on in mind when you wrote it.
With ur skill you could quite easily elaborate on the characters and be more descriptive of events and so forth. Make us feel for the characters, show us more how they react to the things and ppl around them.
The transition in chapters wasnt very good. But that is easily fixed!
All in all pretty good considering the time frame

One: Legacy of Peace
A young man, of about fifteen was walking along the paths that wound around the field of red grass near the city of Kiral, which had become a ruin about a hundred years before. The wind swept across the field making the tall grasses whistle, sounding like thousands of swords clashing, however with a ghastly tone. The man continued onward, his white hair blowing across his shoulders and his blue eyes gleaming in the sun. His bokken's wood appearing dark in contrast to his completion. His shoulders about the width of his legs, his clothing blustering in the wind. As he approached a clearing in the grass about half a mile long, which was covered in deep crimson dirt, he walked to the end of the clearing where a warrior’s corpse was impaled on his sword, encrusted in blood, and untouched by time and the elements. The man removed a rose from a pocket inside his jacket, and placed it onto the warrior’s chest, and made a prayer for the dead. Then he turned and walked away, leaving the last remnants of a bloody past behind him.
Proceeding past the fields and into the forests beyond them the man decided to rest, seeing the sun slowly become enveloped by the glowing colors of dusk, and the deep abyss of a starless night.
He dreamed about a battle he had once fought against a friend. how their lives had become interwoven, only to have them cut short by the very beliefs that had forged their friendship, those of what a war was for, and why people decided to continue fighting, or those that had tried to end them.
As he awoke the man said to no one in particular, "Yes friend, the time has finally come where we could live in peace, and you are the only one who is not able to see your own creation."
With that he rose from his bed of dirt and leaves, wiping what remained of them off of his body, and combing out his hands with his fingers, and proceeded on to the outskirts of a large city. His home, Ansatiru.
Upon arriving at his home, he noticed a man carrying a bokken, which he found unusual, as did many people about his. The youth had dark black hair, green eyes glowing with the light from the sun, and a thin body approached him.
"Would you like to fight, I notice your sword there, and was wondering if you were planning on fighting someone, and as I am the son of a warrior, I thought it only appropriate that I ask."
"I accept your challenge, I would however like to ask of you something before we begin, what is your name?"
"All right my name is Saiji, what might yours be?"
Reacting somewhat startled by the fighter having the same name as the warrior who he battled so long ago he almost forgot to reply, however he manage to regain his composure and answered, "My name, is Tsura"
Soon after this they began to fight, quickly clashing their wooden weapons, and deflecting each others blows, and soon a crowd dew around them, not having seen a fight recently in this era of peace, they were intrigued. Saiji had struck Tsura several times in the leg, however after several more traded blows Tsura scored a stabbing hit on Saiji to his stomach. Only after this did he realize the re-percussions of this event.
Tsura and Saiji began to become friends, training together, and sharing in the love of the peaceful times that they had been lucky enough to be born into. However over time the city fell to change and the people moved on to the place that was once a ruin, and they built a city there, which in time became the capital. Tsura by this time had lost the memories of the past, and had become engrossed in the enjoyment of the times. After several years however the government had become powerful and corrupt, as many have, and they began to oppress the people of the surrounding towns, cutting down the grass in front of the capital and destroying the monument, which was placed there long ago, in order to make room for a defensive position, for the adjacent palace. Te red dirt was tilled under, so that the emperor didn’t have to gaze upon its bloody appearance. It appeared that the era of peace might be drawing to an end...
