Its pretty much about a War known as the "Holy Grail War". A Magician (Magi) each summon Servants; each class having a special ability. And they go around fighting in order to reach the Holy Grail. But a Servant touches the Holy Grail, he or she will die. But, If they drink from it, then they will have a 2nd live in the real world, but the servant will still be under the command of the Magi.

thats my summary, at least from the episodes I saw. I started on ep. 16 and now I am working on the early episodes.
