Can I be teached the japanese sentence formula?
Can I be teached the japanese sentence formula?
well, if i want to speak japanese, i want to know the method of saying it, like all the rules. then i could learn the words, but it only makes sense to learn the ways first. Right?

Hm...
Well, knowing the basics like sentence particles is a good way to start, but there are sometimes exceptions to forming a sentence.
Not to mention the several rules to making a sentence past-tense along with manipulating words and some other stuffs.
I wonder if it'll be okay with 芸者男の子-san to give a few of them.

Well, that's a good way to start. It gets you from point A to point B. Much like how 芸者男の子-san stated in a thread he made some ways back, but that gives more examples and other things.Chibi-Usa wrote:http://www.animeworld.com/

From what I skimmed through, it's okay to head on that site.
It wouldn't hurt though if the person who wrote that section explained on the use of several of the common particles. I would think verbs would be introduced before heading into the "ga" particle.

I think there is far too much to simply jot donw in this thread, I should probably make a "Japanese basics" sticky now that I think about it, I shall have to do some research on the matter and come up with some decent links
If anyone knows any good websites on Japanese grammar, here would be the place to post them

Not me, Sempai, I haven't gotten anything in mind, but I'll be sure to keep an eye out.

Well, here is the comparison of a Japanese formula:
In the English language, the formula is:
subject + verb + object
Kimi reads a book.
but...
In Japanese, the formula switches around:
subject + object + verb
Kimi a book reads.
then vowels...
a is pronounced as 'ah'
e is pronounced as 'eh'
i " " " 'ee'
o " " " 'oh'
u " " " 'oo'

Yeah, we use the SVO while they use the SOV format. It's not really different than the complex sentencings, but the SOV format is usually for the simpler formats.
