I have a few questions here

It's not nearly as complex as English, but as usual we find ways to screw it up.

I have a few questions here

Post by Happy Chikkie Ron ^^ »

Hi to everyone. I'm new to this forum :D
I'm writing a book which have a lot of japanese characters and since I'm not a japanese, can anyone please help me ?
. Are Shingo and Shinji too old names for twelve year old boys ? How would they hear after 10 or so years if I publish my book 8-[
. What does Seiya and Nozumo mean ?
. Can Mizuki be kept as a boy's name ?
. Suggest any smart and modern female name.
(Note: The female name I need is a step mother of 3 kids but really nice, smart, honest, moden and loving ) I think thats toooooo long.
Please help. See yah and have fun.

I'm not sure what you mean about the old thing...

"Seiya" has over 100 different possible readings. I could give you some random ones if you want. And I think you mean "Nozomu"? There's about 15 different readings for that name, but most of them have to do with the kanji "wish/hope".

"Mizuki" is definitely not a boy's name.

A smart and modern female name? Urghh... How about Fumie?

Ok, sure you can give me some random possible readings for Seiya. And no, I didn't mean it as 'Nozomu' I meant is 'Nozumo' I've heard it in an Anime Series. Why I was asking about Mizuki is because it was a boy's name (who is definetely not girlish) in an Anime series as well.
Fumie ????Strange name...never heard it before. Anyways, thanks and you can give me more about Seiya.

Names are so often a mix of modern and old, so I don't think it matters which names you use so long as you're comfortable with them.

Nozumo must be made up for the anime, because it's not a traditional Japanese name: (see here). So I can't give you a reading, unless you'd like me to look up the anime and see if the name had kanji or not.

Mizuki comes up indefinitely as a female name (see here - notice all the "f"s next to the readings), and occasionally as a place name and surname. There's one reading that can possibly be male or female, but generally it's a girl's name.

Hmm, the readings for Seiya aren't all that flattering. The ones with the symbol for "star" aren't bad, though:
"eight stars"
"star house"
"starry night"

Hey, Dreams, thanks for the answers. But there's just one more thing that I wanted to ask.. Can I keep 'Seiya' a name for a normal boy ? Where I heard it was in a anime and used for a boy from outer space, so can you tell me ?
And what are those readings ? Tell me. If they are that bad, you can PM me but I'd like to know.

"Seiya" is classified as an unknown gender/given name, so it can be used for a boy or a girl.

Haha, I didn't mean the readings were "bad". I mean they're boring. Stupid. Blah. Like "ministry + melting". I'd be going for a meaning with "star" in it.

"ministry + melting" , yuck. Me too going for the meaning with star.
Sorrry, but last question, whoever may answer it, can it be used for a normal and I clearly say, a human boy ? I know my question is stupid but I have to ask.
